I have been focusing on insect photography recently and I&#8217;ve discovered a few tips. First of all the equipment you use really does make a difference. I have a fairly low end, 40&#160;mm macro lens. What this means is that I have to get very close to my subject which depending on my model can be very difficult.</p> <p>My first model was a spider I found outside in a park. He was hanging around on a spiderweb and was clearly shy to be infront of the camera because he just could not keep still. This posed problems with focusing, especially since when doing macrophotography your range of focus is so narrow that moving a mm closer or farther away from you, will take the subject out of focus.</p> <p>Recently however I found a ladybug in my room who was a great model. She stood very still, so still that I actually thought she was dead until she sprouted wings and flew of my couch. The lack of movement allowed me to get very close to my subject and take photos that were well focused. </p> <p>So when taking insect photography it is really important to choose a model that will
